Indian village is the latest attraction at the Spanish ski resort of Formigal

06 Jan 2010 | Holidays, News Releases

Swapping their traditional rain dance for a snow dance, the Indians have arrived at Formigal in the Spanish Pyrenees.

The Poblado Indio or Indian village is the latest addition to the already varied range of bars, cafes and restaurants on offer on the slopes at Formigal.

The teepees are traditional Tomahoe tents with the largest reaching a height of 15m. Inside the teepees have been decorated in true Indian style and can hold up to 40 people for lunch. Outside there are long wooden tables and benches, a large drum and a splendid totem pole.

The specialities include winter warmers such as milk with rum, meats, broth and chips.

The snow in Formigal has been falling all week and there are fantastic depths of up to 130cm and beautiful powder snow, as can be seen in the photos. The predictions are for yet more snow to fall!

Bookings made before the 15 January receive free ski or board hire and for the rest of the season (except half term) there are 2 for 1 lift passes and free lift passes for children.
