Five Great Ormond Street Hospital patients and their families spent a week in Majorca for the annual star-studded Pirates Adventure premiere last week.

Thomson Holidays flew patients Lewis Miller, Robyn Fellows, Raphael Havard, Matthew Jaycock and Jo Ruane and their families out to Puerto Pollensa in the north of the Island for a week long holiday staying at the Thomson Family Resort, Playa Mar hotel.

The families were treated with VIP tickets to the Pirates Adventure on Saturday 28th April - a jaw-dropping, heart-stopping acrobatics show.

There, the children met Eastenders stars Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell), Cheryl Ferguson (Heather) and Linda Henry (Shirley) as well as Hollyoaks girls, Sinead McMohan and Leah Hackett. They were also treated to an appearance from former Manchester United football player Dwight Yorke.

The evening concluded with a charity auction, with the kids and celebrities playing auctioneers, which raised a total of 45,000 Euros. This brings the total raised over the last nine years to a whopping 600,000 Euros. This money will go towards Great Ormond Street’s Charity’s Theatres for Theatres Appeal, which is funding new state-of-the-art operating theatres at the hospital for children who require pioneering surgery.

During their stay in Majorca, the families were also taken on the Thomson 'Rancho Grande' excursion which saw them enjoying a Wild West wagon ride through the ranch among other exciting activities. The children were also joined by some Pirates on their adventure into the Wild West.

Charlie Bridge, Area Manager for Majorca, said of the event:

"It has been a humbling experience meeting the Great Ormond Street families, some of whom have never been abroad together before. It's great that we have been able to give them the opportunity to spend some quality time together at the Thomson Family Resort Playa Mar, which is the perfect place for fun, sun and relaxation. We have supported the Pirates charity event for the last nine years and seeing the smiling faces of these fantastic children makes it all worthwhile."
