JAMAICAN ME CRAZY
As the busiest month for holidays draws to a close, Thomson reveals this month’s travel trends.
Demand for overseas travel in August was even higher than usual thanks to the rain. As a result, Thomson had very few holidays left to sell for customers looking for a late deal.
Jamaica has been a summer success story in more ways than one with nearly 20,000 Thomson and First Choice customers searching for holidays to the Caribbean island immediately after the 100m final. Overall in August searches for holidays to Jamaica were up by 20%.
Greece enjoyed a strong month with searches up nearly 20% compared to the same period last year as families jetted off on holiday and others searched for a late summer deal.
In addition London Gatwick to Majorca proved the most popular flight route during August. Long regarded as a family favourite Majorca has seen increased interest following the Prime Minister choosing to holiday on the island with his family.
